I withdraw from the noise my eyes covered, sound dimmed.

Birds begin to rise from my head, a quiet stirring I cannot yet name.
​
This is the first moment of listening.
The birds move outward and my eyes open.
What once lived deep inside begins to guide my gaze.
​
Feeling finds its way into sight
In white, I lift my face, eyes closed.
​
The birds now drift above me, free of weight or need.
​
Here, I arrive at ease.
